Designing, organizing and promoting digital arts and events related to electronic music and research, usually following brave, non-obvious, unconventional trajectories
There was a time when besieged in Sarajevo, a group of British 'travelers' managed to break the isolation of the city and went under the snipers' throw to create an unforgettable New Year's dance party. There was a time when tens of thousands of young people went down the street to Berlin to dance loudly screaming their contempt for all forms of racism. Two distant times between them, the first 90 years of the civil war in the former Yugoslavia and today, in full humanitarian emergency. Because if there is a relationship between the word 'disco' and the word 'culture' it is on occasions like these that the link appears very strong, inextricable.
This naturally has to do with that expression that now seems to belong to the historicization of the dance floor, 'club culture', which today, in times of 'liquid' use of every form of social reality, appears destined to closed rooms of sociological studies .
Instead. Instead as always happens with the subcultures, there is an energy that comes 'from below' (another expression apparently obsolete with which we must start to reckon) and that invests small communities. An underground desire, light years away from the identification between DJs and pop stars, which shows the centrality of attention where it all began, on music, on that meeting of universes that has always characterized the DJ style. A return to the origins that does not have a nostalgic, dusty taste, because it belongs to a generation that when you look back it does not do it with anger, but with love. This generation wants to celebrate ROBOT 2018.
Designing, organizing and promoting digital arts and events related to electronic music and research, usually following brave, non-obvious, unconventional trajectories. This is Shape's vision: a non-profit organization that in more than a decade of work has been able to transform itself into a reality with a European relevance both for prestige and for results.
The heart is in Bologna, the gaze is turned to three hundred and sixty degrees around the world, always looking for ideas and references to be reprocessed. ROBOT Festival is the most important - but certainly not the only - fruit of a path that creates continuous intersections with the communication processes, the cultural industry, innovation and the ability to relate with the organizational complexities of the contemporary.
