Lia Carreira is a media artist and researcher, currently based in Budapest, Hungary. As an artist, she explores current technologies as potential platforms for engagement and agency in order to question and unravel contemporary modes of beings in today’s highly digital, tech-driven and networked society. Her practice often involves hijacking existing technologies and appropriating online contents in order to question current forms of engaging with others and with online data. In both her practice and research, Lia works with trial and error as fundamental concepts and methods for experimental art- and exhibition-making. She is part of Oberrō, a communal project which explores acts of erring, and is currently developing a research on the idea of the exhibition space as a laboratory (i.e., as a space for experimentation based on trials and errors).
